IREKA CARES AT AQUARIA KLCC
Kuala Lumpur, 27 May 2017: Aquaria KLCC was the destination of choice for 16 girls from Open Hands Children’s Home in Kajang and IREKA CARES volunteers on Saturday, 27 May. The trip to KLCC was a first for many of the children and they made a day of it by arriving early with their carers to wander around and play in the park area.
The children ranged between 8 – 16 years and they were all amazed with the exciting and informative exhibits; offering an opportunity to learn about the world beneath the ocean. We really felt like we had stepped into another world as we marveled at the scary tiger sharks, blue rays, snake eels, giant turtles, clown fish and beautiful moon jelly fish. Watching a giant ray or tiger shark swim above you in the glass tunnel was truly mesmerizing with lots of oohs and aahs coming from the children for the whole 2 hours we were in Aquaria KLCC. Even the adults got to enjoy it too and for sure, the IREKA CARES volunteers, shared in the fun. The best part of the whole experience was being able to witness professional aquarists swimming among the marine animals and hand-feeding them, while also learning about their roles.
The time with the children from Open Hands Home finished with a lovely lunch at Kenny Rogers Roasters where their staff looked after us well. I would say that the trip to Aquaria KLCC was a special visit which would have created lots of wonderful memories for everyone. From the touch tanks to watching colourful fish swim, the day out to Aquaria KLCC offered both the children and IREKA CARES volunteers the opportunity to have a good time together. Everyone is looking forward to the next outing in July and there is strong lobbying from the children for a trip to the bowling alley. Watch this space for an update……
