IREKA CARES KEEPS IT SIMPLE!
Kuala Lumpur, 29 October 2018: It only took some balloons, plastic cups, rulers, ping pong balls and a putting mat to bring smiles and laughter to 15 children, carers and volunteers at the IREKA CARES outing last Saturday. The fun indoor Telematch event was held at the community WillYou cafe on the third floor of 1MK Mall which was the perfect venue to flip cups, move plastic cups with only a balloon or get ping pong balls to go through specific holes on a table cloth. The whole morning was about team work between the children from the Open Hands Home (Kajang), their carers and IREKA CARES volunteers. There was a healthy competitive feel in the air and the “kiasu” amongst us kept a close forensic eye on the leader board throughout! After winning the hard-earned points, everyone was rewarded with a sumptuous lunch.
Thanks to IREKA CARES Advisor Datuk Lai Foot Kong and Datin Lai, and Ireka Group General Manager Leonard Yee for dropping in to join us, and to talk to the children which they do appreciate. Thanks also to the WillYou cafe and chef Taufik for looking after us so well. The lion’s share of thanks goes to the IREKA CARES volunteers who worked so hard to make the morning a total success. Without their enthusiasm, commitment and kind heart to the Open Hands children, our CSR programme would not run as smoothly as it does, year after year (IREKA CARES is in its eighth year).
The next IREKA CARES outing with the children will be in January 2019 and we look forward to welcoming more volunteers to join us in the fun.
