IREKA KICKS OFF EAST MSIA PROPERTY ROADSHOW

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, 3 December 2011: Ireka Corporation Berhad’s Real Estate unit, Ireka Development Management Sdn Bhd, recently kicked off a property roadshow in East Malaysia, showcasing its luxurious resort-themed condominium SENI Mont’ Kiara as well as leasing opportunities for Sandakan’s first shopping mall, Harbour Mall Sandakan.

“We are bringing our product to property buyers in East Malaysia, as we believe that the appetite for luxury homes is still prevalent amongst both investors and owners alike in this part of the country. Ireka will be in major cities such as Kuching, Miri and Sandakan and of course Sabah’s capital city of Kota Kinabalu,” said Lai Voon Hon, President and CEO of Ireka Development Management Sdn Bhd.

SENI Mont’ Kiara (“seni” means art in the Malay language), is perched on an 8.8-acre ridge that places it at the highest point in Mont’ Kiara – Kuala Lumpur’s most exclusive residential enclave. The development holds the distinction of being the first residential development in Malaysia to house a permanent art gallery. It comprises two 40-storey tower blocks (Van Gogh and Picasso) and two 12-storey low-rise blocks (Monet and Dali). Most of its 605 luxury residences open out to unobstructed views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline which include views of the Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower and the new National Palace. Five acres of lush landscaped grounds has been designed by renowned Bali-based landscape architect Karl Princic, who has worked on some of Asia’s finest resorts. Currently, SENI Mont’ Kiara has reached sales take-up of over 70%.

Commenting on the leasing progress of the Harbour Mall Sandakan, Lai said, “We have now secured our anchor tenant, Parkwell Departmental Store and Supermarket and a number of renowned brand names such as Levi’s, Gintel and The Body Shop. We’re excitedly working towards the mall opening in the first quarter of 2012.”

The 5-level Harbour Mall will be the first harbour shopping mall situated in the heart of Sandakan town, offering 200,000 sq ft of prime spaces for retailers, aside from being a new shopping haven for both locals and tourists in Sandakan. Above the 5-level Harbour Mall, reaching 26 storeys, sits the 300-room Four Points by Sheraton hotel tower, which will also be Sandakan’s first internationally branded business hotel, set to elevate Sandakan town’s hospitality and leisure standard to a new level.

Harbour Mall Sandakan’s anchor tenant, Parkwell Departmental Store and Supermarket, will take up a retail space of approximately 48,000 sq ft. Some of the future tenants at the Harbour Mall Sandakan also include Levi’s, Gintel, Bata, GNC, The Body Shop, Tomei Gold & Jewellery, SOX World, SN Mutiara, SOG, Jeff Eyewear Space and Watson. The mall has allocated an area of 18,000 sq ft as the food court and a 6,000 sq ft area for the entertainment and games centre.
