HIGH JINKS WITH IREKA CARES AT SKYTREX ADVENTURE

Shah Alam, 7 May 2016: Children from Rumah Hope and The Lighthouse plus their IREKA CARES volunteers unleashed their sense of adventure at Skytrex Adventure, Shah Alam on Saturday, 7 May. The award-winning outdoor adventure park for all the family set within the beautiful forest of Taman Botani Negara proved to be a hit with children and volunteers alike. They call this an extreme sport because the tree to tree ‘sky-trekking’ experience means that you can fly, swing, glide and dangle on the various aerial obstacles suspended above the lush tropical rainforest.

There is no greater rush than the great outdoors and Skytrex did not disappoint. They make their courses as fun and as accessible as possible. The tree top adventure swinging through the canopy, zip-lining from tree to tree, walking on planks suspended over 100 meters from the ground (some much higher) brought the children and volunteers together like nothing else – it really did. Tribute must be paid to the IREKA CARES volunteers who took such good care of the children and to the children themselves who looked out for each other without even being asked to. It really was an unforgettable day out for IREKA CARES.

The physically demanding day out required both physical and mental strength, and the children said they felt a sense of accomplishment afterwards, especially some of them who feared heights. Staff at Skytrex were very helpful and came in to help at the right points, with safety as the priority at all times. There were 23 stations around “The Big Thrill” circuit to conquer and the children’s love of adventure kicked-in very quickly once they got the hang of harnessing and unharnessing themselves. According to Fang Ai Choo, IREKA CARES’ Action Committee Chair, “Having fun was only one part of the Skytrex experience – the children learnt about teamwork and collaboration, about leadership and what a sense of achievement felt like. Well done everyone for taking up the challenge to live life adventurously!”
