Kuala Lumpur, 8 October 2014: Ireka Engineering & Construction Sdn Bhd (IECSB), the Infrastructure arm of Bursa Malaysia Main Market-listed Ireka Corporation Berhad (“Ireka”), has been awarded a contract by KL Eco City Sdn Bhd for the construction of the main building works for the Retail Podium, Office Block A and the remaining works for the basement levels. The contract sum is RM276.79 million (“Contract”). The Contract shall commence on 15 October 2014 and it is expected to complete in 29 months from the date of commencement.


This is KL Eco City’s second contract awarded to IECSB, which is currently constructing two blocks of serviced apartments named Vogue Suites Tower 1, due for completion in November 2016. The contract is worth RM298.24 million.


The Contract brings Ireka’s current order book to about RM1.44 billion of which approximately RM1.08 billion remains outstanding. The KL Eco City project is expected to contribute positively to the earnings of Ireka Group for the financial years ending 31 March 2015 onwards.


Commenting on the award of the Contract, Ireka’s Group Managing Director, Datuk Lai Siew Wah, said, “We are delighted and proud to have won this contract. Ireka’s current major projects include Vogue Suites Tower 1 in Kuala Lumpur, Imperia Puteri Harbour in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor (by UEM Sunrise Bhd); Solstice @ Pan’gaea in Cyberjaya (by OSK Property Holdings Bhd); and the MRT Package V7 (construction and completion of viaduct guideway and other associated works from Bandar Tun Hussein Onn to Taman Mesra); The RuMa Hotel and Residences, Jalan Kia Peng, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, as well as Kasia Greens homes in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.


Since 1967, Ireka has completed a number of significant infrastructure projects including the Kuala Lumpur International Airport runway, Kuala Lumpur section of the Middle-Ring Road II, North-South Expressway, Kulai Second Link Expressway Interchange, Putrajaya Government Administrative Offices, DiGi Corporate Office, Technology Park Malaysia, OCBC Bank’s Kuala Lumpur Head Office, Wisma AIG and Brunei Embassy in Beijing. Ireka’s building works track record also includes over 2,000 luxury residential and commercial units in exclusive Mont’ Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.


IECSB was also involved in the construction of three award-winning projects namely – The Westin Kuala Lumpur hotel, the luxury condominium SENI Mont’ Kiara and the urban renewal development Sandakan Harbour Square which includes design and build of the Harbour Mall Sandakan and the Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan hotel in Sabah.
